Microdermabrasion (sometimes called microderm) is a gentler form of dermabrasion. Both of these procedures rub away the outer layers of the skin and later allow the skin to renew itself. They both involve "sanding" of the skin to a smoother finish, but at different depths. We will be focusing the discussion of this article on microdermabrasion which is offered in our office.
It's the gentle abrading away of the outer skin surface. Some microdermabrasion units use crystals and some are without. The one we use at our office is without crystals. It removes the top layer of skin and dead skin cells. Thus, it promotes the production of new cells from the dermis. It cleans out your pores and helps to prevent future breakouts of acne if used on a regular basis. Microderm is usually performed on the face and upper chest areas but any part of the body with skin can use microdermabrasion as well.
Rejuvenates sun damaged skin -
face, neck, shoulders, back, arms and legs
Promotes collagen growth
Reduce age spots
Minimize blotchy skin coloring
Reduce acne and superficial scars from past injury
Extract blackheads and whiteheads
Oily Skin
Improve overall skin health and superficial texture
Virtually no downtime. Could be done as a "lunch time" procedure. It is considered one of the top non-surgical cosmetic procedures at Surgical Artistry. There may be some slight redness of the skin afterwards, but fades quickly - usually by the time one leaves the office.
People with acne, superficial lines and wrinkes, sun damaged skin, some minor texture uneveness, and some discoloration. If one has a history or family history of hypo/hyperpigmentation or keloid scarring, one should consider microdermabrasion instead of deeper dermabrasion or invasive peels.
Tattoos, deep scars/wrinkles, and birth marks are not effectively treated by microdermabrasion.
If you like, we will recommend skin care products to maintain the results of your treatments. We also highly recommend a good sunscreen with zinc oxide.
We offer Diamondtome microdermabrasion in our office.
Our office is located next to the post office on 2336 Sylvan Ave, Suite C, Modesto, CA 95355. Tel: 209-551-1888
