It was a symbol to us that we had &#8220;made it.&#8221; Tammy had become a full fledged Plastic Surgeon and for me, a General Surgeon. On Friday, 5\/31\/13 Sherman Clay, is closing its doors after 142 years of being America&#8217;s Finest Piano Dealer. The owners are retiring, and they deserve a standing ovation for all they have done for the piano arts. We wish\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/JustinLevittPianist?directed_target_id=0\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/user.php?id=807928311&amp;extragetparams=%7B%22directed_target_id%22%3A0%7D\">Justin Levitt<\/a>\u00a0the manager of the Sherman Clay store in Walnut Creek a wonderful future with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/steinway?directed_target_id=0\" data-hovercard=\"\/ajax\/hovercard\/page.php?id=164364336998978&amp;extragetparams=%7B%22directed_target_id%22%3A0%7D\">Steinway &amp; Sons<\/a>. He is a pianist, composer, Carnegie Hall performer, and an ambassador for all things piano.<\/p>\n<p>Both Dr. Wu and I play the piano.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_668\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/a-steinway-piano-modesto-IMG_3470-smaller.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-668\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-668\" src=\"https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/a-steinway-piano-modesto-IMG_3470-smaller-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Steinway Piano\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/a-steinway-piano-modesto-IMG_3470-smaller-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/a-steinway-piano-modesto-IMG_3470-smaller-624x468.jpg 624w, https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/a-steinway-piano-modesto-IMG_3470-smaller.jpg 968w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-668\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Lee and Dr. Wu&#8217;s Steinway Piano<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\">Our Steinway Piano (Model B, 6&#8217;11&#8221;, 760 lbs) acquired in 2004 from Sherman Clay Pianos in Walnut Creek. \u00a0Tammy wanted to purchase the piano to go along with my violin playing. \u00a0But I couldn&#8217;t resist the urge to play the piano as well, and I&#8217;m glad she decided upon this high caliber instrument. \u00a0 \u00a0I had learned some piano as a child but had been &#8220;fired&#8221; by my piano teacher. \u00a0In college, I came up with this idea that in order to become a better violinist, I needed to learn piano. \u00a0So, I \u00a0sneaked in piano lessons with great piano teacher Arlene Cole at Brown University. \u00a0I wasn&#8217;t nearly anywhere good enough to be one of her regular students, but she allowed me to take lessons with her on the side for one summer. Then of course, medical school took over and I had forgotten about the piano until Tammy brought it up in 2004 as one of her interests and insisted on the best piano we could obtain and fit into our first house. \u00a0 We have moved 3 times since 2003 and I&#8217;ve nearly had heart attacks each time the piano was moved, but it has fared well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Currently I&#8217;ve been teaching myself some piano and here&#8217;s some <a title=\"Minute Waltz Chopin Calvin Lee\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BD5Vk6GES7Q\">Cosmetic Surgery finger dexterity practicing on Chopin&#8217;s Minute Waltz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/dr-wu-and-dr-lee.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-530\" src=\"https:\/\/surgerytoday.com\/education\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/dr-wu-and-dr-lee.png\" alt=\"dr-wu-and-dr-lee\" width=\"181\" height=\"109\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>We believe in performing great masterpieces on stage and in the operating room<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Performing Masterpieces in the Operating Room We are proud to have acquired a fine Steinway Piano from\u00a0Sherman Clay Pianos\u00a0in Walnut Creek, CA, almost 10 years ago when we moved to Modesto, CA.
